Business and Digital Skills – KS3 

Through years 7, 8, and 9 students study our bespoke Business and Digital Skills (BDS) curriculum. It is important that students develop an early understanding of the working world and acquire the transferable knowledge and skills necessary to be successful future employees and entrepreneurs.  

Students will work on a variety of Business, Enterprise, IT and Computer Science based topics that progressively develop in knowledge, skills, and competency over the three years. As a result of the BDS curriculum, students will have achieved a working knowledge of Microsoft Office, have a basic knowledge of key programming languages, have developed an insight into how businesses operate and the skills that are needed to succeed in the world of enterprise.  

Additionally, students will have the opportunity to develop key entrepreneurial skills including decision-making, communication, presentation, and organisation. We also explore personal finance and budgeting as part of the curriculum.  

BDS gives students a foundational knowledge to be successful in KS4 at GCSE Business, Computer Science and Cambridge National Creative iMedia. 

GCSE Business – KS4 

At KS4, GCSE Business allows students to discover and explore the world of business, ranging from small enterprises to large multinationals and businesses that operating in a local, national, and global context.  

Crucially, students develop their own decision-making skills, including the interdependent nature of business. They consider the impact of external influences and how internal business functions including operations, finance, marketing, and human resources work.  

Through rigorous practice and application to modern case studies, students develop essential problem-solving skills enabling them to make reasoned and justified decisions, using their interpretation of facts and evaluation of potential impacts.  

We fundamentally believe that mastery of the business curriculum enables young people to understand how commerce and the ever-changing political and socio-economic landscapes affect their lives and business planning at every level.
